Robert, his wife Isabella and their four children immigrated to Australia in the Sailing Ship Mandarin arriving in Sydney, New South Wales on 19 Oct 1838. The family came to Australia as Bounty Immigrants. Robert's occupation was listed as a farmer and Isabella was listed as a farmservant. They had their fifth child after their arrival in Australia and he was born in Paramatta, New South Wales.
