Married Margaret Livingstone about 1811, and had children: Mary Ann 1812, Mary 1813, Pierce 1824, Robert 1825, Elizabeth 1826 and Margaret 1828 before emigrating about 1830. He had applied for land at the same time as his father's original land grant, so It is likely that his parents and several siblings emigrated at the same time. His father was settled Lot 10 Concession 9 Bathurst Township, but the land was very rocky and he was unable to support his 'large family'. In 1825 John moved to lot 15 Conc 11, South Sherbrooke Twp. Thomas had received his grant in 1830 for NE ½ Lot 14 Concession 10 of South Sherbrooke Township.. This is north of Maberly at the site of Laidley Cemetery. Although the location of Thomas' burial has not been confirmed, it is assumed to be in the old Methodist cemetery on the corner of his lot.
