My great-grandfather James McDOWELL was born about 1802 in Ireland. His father John McDOWELL lived in Ballyvarnet, Bangor, Down, Ireland. James married Eliza McLeod at the First Presbyterian Church of Bangor on 7 Jun 1833. They had at least 4 children. One of those children was my grandfather James McDOWELL. He was born about 1853. He immigrated to the USA in 1870 and joined family in San Benito County, California.
