John Thistle of Drutamy Bailieborough, Co Cavan appears in the 1833 Tithe Applotment Records as John Thrisel of ‘Drutamin’ in the parish of Killinkere.
By 1856, here is no record of any Thistle in Griffiths Valuation. Census records show that in 1841 Drutamy had a population of 136 (20 houses) and suffered significant losses during the period of the Great famine. By 1851 the population of this townland was just 66 persons (17 houses).
What became of John and his family is unknown.
