I know little about Johannah's life before her first migration to the US. Her obit says she was a native of Kilgarvan Parish. I know her maiden name was Lynch. She married Jeremiah Lynch by 1853 and emigrated to New York City about 1854, went to England, gave birth to her son Thomas in England in 1854, and returned to NYC for the New York Census in 1855, where she lived next door to her husband's parents, Thomas and Nora (Lehane) Lynch. Then, she went back to Ireland and gave birth to her daughter Johannah in Apr-1860 in Drombohilly Co. Kerry. They returned to NYC 4 months later, with their son and daughter and her in-laws on board the Chancellor arriving 25-Jul-1860 in New York. She and her husband and daughter appear in the 1870 census in San Francisco CA. Her son was probably in NY state since he married Mary Ann McGrath in 1875 Staten Island and Jeremiah, Johannah and Johanna Jr are in the 1875 NY state census in Middletown (Staten Island) NY. Jeremiah, Johannah Sr and their children Thomas and Johannah, and Thomas' wife are all in San Francisco by 1877. Johannah dies in San Francisco as a 72 year and 3 month old native of Kilgarvan Parish Co. Kerry.
