Elizabeth (Lizzie) Forgrave Hutchinson, the sixth child of Knox Hutchinson and Margaret Elizabeth Forgrave, was born Presbyterian in Garvagh, Errigal, Coleraine, Ireland, on 6 September 1891, where Knox was a Spirit Merchant and owned a Pub. Her siblings were: Margaret Forgrave Hutchinson, born 3 July 1880 and died single 6 July 1937 in Belfast; William John Meek Hutchinson, born in 1882 in Garvagh, and married Elizabeth E. Chism in 1908 in Philadelphia, PA; Mary Ann (Minnie) Huchinson, born in 1884 in Garvagh, and married William E. Morrison Jr in Alleghany, PA, USA in 1906; Thomas James Hutchinson, born in 1886 in Garvagh, married Martha Jane Halliday in 1912 in Belfast and after her death, married Euphemia Clark Bethune in 1921 in Niles, OH; Robert Knox Hutchinson, born in 1889 in Garvagh, married Johanna Dalton in 1915 in Belfast; Isabella Alexandra McNeary Hutchinson born in 1894 in Garvagh, married George Cree Jamison in 1914 in Belfast and after his death, she married Hugh Wallace about 1941 in Belfast; Sarah Jane "Sally" Hutchinson born in 1896 in Aghadowey, Coleraine, married Robert Charles Stanley Bower Jr in 1919 in Belfast; Hugh Smith Morrison Hutchinson born in 1898 in Belfast, and married Alberta A. Swager in 1935, in Erie, PA, USA. In 1904, when Lizzie was just 15 and working as a vest maker at a clothing factory, Lizzie had a daughter named Josephine who was born 1/26/1904 and died 4/23/1904 when bed clothes tangled and covered her face. There is no father listed on the birth record. The father possibly could have been one of the boys working at the shipyard. Lizzie lived with the family and worked as a Printer in 1911 at age 20. Lizzy and her then boyfriend, John Henry Bradley, were witnesses to her sister, Isabella and George Cree Jamison's wedding on 11 August 1914 in Belfast. Lizzie was a witness to her brother, Robert and Johanna Dalton's wedding on 26 January 1915 in Larne, Ireland. Lizzie and John Henry Bradley married on 14 July 1915 in Belfast. John was Roman Catholic, born in 1888 in County Tyrone, and was a Labourer. Lizzie's sister, Sally, was a witness to their wedding. John's parents were Henry Bradley and Mary Lynes, who were married in Armagh. Henry and Mary had two other children, Patrick, born in 1890 and Annie, born in 1892. Lizzie lived with the family until at least 1916 when she was 25 and married and had her first child with John. At this point, John had become an Undertaker. Margaret Primrose Bradley was born on 19 April 1916. Lizzie and John lived at 7 Fife Street, Belfast with Lizzie's mother Margaret. John Henry "Harry" Bradley Jr. was born 26 November 1919. Lizzie and John lived at 62 Carnan Street, Belfast. Lizzie had two miscarriages before having her last child, Hugh Hutchinson Bradley, born in Belfast. John and Lizzie lived at 20 Alexandra Park Ave, Belfast in 1945 when their son Hugh was killed in Bicester, Oxford, England during World War II. Lizzie visited Niles, OH for 6 months in 1946 and again in 1948 or 49. There is a picture of a family reunion with 33 members of the family including Lizzie in it from the latter visit. Lizzie and John lived in Belfast in 1964 at 7 Downview Gardens Donegal Park Avenue. John died around 1968. Lizzie had senile dimentia in later life and had to be put in a nursing care home. Her grand-daughter and great-grand-daughter lived within walking distance and visited often. Lizzie loved sweets and her great-grand-daughter would often indulge Lizzie by sharing her treats with her. Lizzie would smack her great grand-daughter in the bum with her walking stick if she didn't share! Her great grand-daughter went to visit by herself the day Lizzie died and was the first to find out about Lizzie's death. She ran home crying the whole way. Lizzie died on 24 July 1983. She was 92 and lived in a home in Collinbridge, Glengormley. She donated her body to science. Picture was taken in 1913.

Ireland beats Italy at USA94 World Cup

On this day the Giants Stadium at New Jersey was a sea of Irish tricolours and the scene of great jubilation as Ireland's soccer team beat Italy for the first time. Italy was a favourite to win the tournament and it was expected that they "would play Ireland off the pitch". For Ireland, it was the most glorious outcome imaginable.
