Thomas Gunness, his wife Elizabeth Faris, two sons and four daughters, set sail from Dublin on the Columbia on 10 May 1819, arriving Quebec on 15 July.  Thomas and Elizabeth were my 4xgreat grandparents, and Jane the eldest daughter, would become my 3x great grandmother.  Also on board that ship was another set of my 4xgreat grandparents Stanly and Catherine Briggs and Jane's future husband their son Thomas.

These were Emigrants heading for the Perth Military Settlement in Canada West (eastern Ontario).  By the 14 September, they were settled on 100 acres S-W 1/2 Lot21, conc 7, east of Harper Rd at Harper.

On 30 Aug 1824 Thomas was a witness at the marriage of their daughter Jane to Thomas Briggs, and on 31 March 1828 he and his son-in-law Thomas Briggs were the witnesses to the marriage of another daughter Eliza/Elizabeth to William Pratt.

Thomas Gunness died 21 Sept 1830 and may be buried about 3 km away at McVeigh's Cemetery which is on the property owned by Thomas Briggs.
