Stanley Briggs (AKA Sandy Briggs) birth year estimated to be about 1773, left Dublin 10 May 1819 on board the Columbia with unnamed wife (assumed to be named Catherine) and son Thomas Briggs born about 1797.  Stanley and Catherine were my 4x great grandparents and Thomas my 3x great grandfather.  [Also on board the same ship were the family of Thomas Gunness and his wife Elizabeth Farris, another set of 4xgreat grandparents.]

Classed as emigrants (not military) they landed at the port of Quebec on 15 July 1819, and proceeded up the St Lawrence on the Malsham.  Once at Perth Military Settlement Stanley was settled on  NE 1/2 L11 C8, Bathurst Twp Lanark County, Canada West. This property is about Lat: 44.891° N, Lon: 76.420° W, on the present McVeigh Road, near the junction with Rutherford Side Road.  Thomas was settled on the adjacent lot to the east, on  SW 1/2 L13 C8 Bathurst Twp, at the site of the present McVeigh Saw Mill.

Stanley Briggs jr (born about 1796) and his wife Ann Dean arrived 19 May 1821 on board The Sisters and were settled across the road at NE 1/2 Lot 12 Conc 7.

Since Stanley jr sold both pieces of property as one block in 1835, his father is presumed to have died before that date.  Stanley sr was likely buried in McVeigh's cemetery on the property.  No marker exists.
