Per the marriage record of my maternal great grandparents, John D. Donegan (son of Michael Donegan & Ellen Shea) and Mary Ellen Hurley/Herlihy (dau of John Hurley and Jane Healey); record for 14 Sep 1884, Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Staten Island, NY. The sponsors/witnesses are listed as Margaret Hurley and John Connell. An Irish researcher then found a marriage record for John Hurley & Mary Healy in Kilgarvan parish records, 05 Feb 1853 (no parents listed).

I have many HEALY/HEALEY DNA matches (Ancestry, MyHeritage, 23andMe, and FTDNA) who connect to the political Healy-Rea family in the Kilgarvan area. I do not know if John & Jane ever lived in the U.S. I cannot specifically identify Jane's parents among those who have posted trees and connect to me and those lines. .

    The blitz on the Big Houses

    <p>In early 1923, during the period of civil war in Ireland, Anti-Treatyites embarked on a concentrated campaign against the Big Houses of the he landed gentry. Between June 1922-April 1923, a staggering 199 Big Houses went up in flames. In the civil war, the only county in Leinster with no burnings was Queens County (now Laois).</p>
