Mary GALVIN was born about 1845 in Ballycarroll near Barefield, Doora parish, County Clare, the daughter of John GALVIN a farmer and Ann (Nancy) HASSETT.

Her sister, Bridget, had sailed to New South Wales, so Mary followed, arriving in Sydney per RACEHORSE on 22  September 1866. Passenger list records her parents were "John and Anne living in Ballycarroll, County Clare. Sister Biddy living in Cumberland St, Sydney".

On 5 January 1875 at St Patrick's Catholic Church, Church Hill Sydney, Mary GALVIN married Martin HOGAN. Martin, the son of Patrick HOGAN and Mary GARVEY,  had been born in Ballymulqueeny, Doora parish on 27 September 1825 and had sailed to Sydney with his brother, John HOGAN, per LADY ELMA BRUCE, in 1859.

Martin and Mary settled in Grabben Gullen, near Crookwell, New South Wales, where they raised their four sons. Martin died on 4 September 1889 and Mary on 14 October 1928.

Mary's obituary reads- MRS MARY HOGAN. The death of Mary Hogan, of Grabben Gullen, wife of the late Mr. Martin Hogan, occurred at the Crookwell Public Hospital on Saturday, after a brief illness. Mrs. Hogan was a very old resident of the Crookwell district and was 84 years of age. Her husband predeceased her 35 years. She is survived by four sons, Messrs. Martin of Grabben Gullen, and Dennis of Sydney, and Sergeants Thomas and Patrick Hogan of Queensland. The burial took place at the Roman Catholic cemetery, Wheeo, yesterday morning.
