John Sinnott married Mary Davis in at St. Aidan's Catholic Church,  Enniscorthy, Wexford at on 17 January 1808.

The family emigrated to the US by 1834 when Ellen married in Boston, Massachusettes on 30 July 1834. Mary married also in Boston in 1836. 

Before 1838 the family had moved to Monroe County, Illinois where they purchased land 25 August 1838.
