Born illigitimate in 1855 to James Ryan and Mary Dahal (Doyle?), lived in Wexford in Moneytucker. Left for America before 1875. Brother to Thomas and Mary, twins, born in Wexford in 1857. Bridget, youngest, was born 1860. All moved to Trimdon, Durham, England.
