I am a direct descendent through Roger Lasche Brown (1927-2002), Roger Leonard Brown (1895-1954), and John Robert Brown (1857-1938)
U.S. Civil War pension record show that he claimed to have been born in Newcastle West, Co. Limerick in 1835. He was a prisoner of war during that war in the infamous Andersonville, Georgia prison, which left him with lifelong gastric and arthritis disability. He worked as a shoemaker and insurance agent.
Parents listed on the Winnebago County, Illinois death certificate are John Brown and Hanna Quinn (sometimes read as Irvin by another genealogist).
Liberty-Ellis Foundation record for his immigration shows:

He spent most of his life in and around Rockford, Winnebago, Illinois.
His first wife was Julia Scanlan (1838), who bore John Robert Brown in Rickford, Illinois 3 May 1857. She died 29 Apr 1858 in Cherry Valley, Illinois. No record of that marriage has yet been found, but it was mentioned in Civil War pension records.
I have searched Newcastle West NLI Catholic Parish Registers for Roger Brown, John Brown, and Hanna Quinn based on known exact dates without luck so far. I'm now broadening my search to surround parishes and years either side fo the exact dates.
