Immigrated with his wife and daughter, in 1821 to Nova Scotia, Canada. The family settled in Whiteside, Richmond County, Nova Scotia. He was married to Mary McCarthy. His second wife was Margaret Lamey, who he married in 1869 at the age of 79.
