George Finnegan was born in Seatown, Armaug, County Louth in 1840 and died 11 December, 1897, in Brooklyn, Kings County, New York.  In Ireland, Catholic Parish Registers, 1655-1915, there is a bapism record that reads as below.  His wife was Catherine Coffey.  He had four children:  George Francis (1873-1932) ,  Helen (my grandmother) (1877-1951) , Mary, and Joseph. (1885-  )  The names Bryan and Lawrence along with George descend.  My mother said his folks in Ireland were "newspaper men."  Mary's daughter, Sister Carmelite Maria said the family was involved in "pre-IRA" activities.
