George D. CAUGHEY, was born February 26, 1850, in Newtownards[?], County Down, Ireland. His father's name was

Patrick Caughey, also of Newtownards, County Down, Ireland.

It appears that George married Mary Frances Anderson in Ireland in about 1880

On May 28, 1888, Mr. and Mrs. George Caughey emigrated to the USA settling in South Boston, Massachusetts.

He was a carpenter.

Mr. Caughey became a naturalized US citizen on October 8, 1893.

In 1919 he received word that his sister in Ireland had a "severe sickness" and it was then that he applied for

a passport to travel to Ireland to be with his sister for a stay of about 2 months. He planned to leave on board the

"Winnifredou[?]" on June 10, 1919.

Mr.and Mrs. George D. Caughey were listed on the 1900 and 1910 US censuses as living in South Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. They did not have any children.

George D. Caughey died in Boston, Massachusetts on February 14, 1930.
