Elizabeth (Mary) was born in 1841 in Wicklow, Ireland. Her parents were William Hempenstall (abt 1800 -1881) and Julia Butler Hempenstall (abt 1800 - 1899).  William was a provisions merchant who had a shop on Main Street in Wicklow from about 1846-1899.  She had 3 siblings; Anne (1832- ), Thomas (1835 - ) and Mary (1838- ).  Elizabeth immigrated to the United States and married John Lockwood (abt 1840-1865). They had one son William (1862-1903).She remarried and had 5 other children.  Elizabeth died approx 1900 in New York.
