Dickson Thistle Jr (1858 - ) of Belfast Co Down was an Army Infantry Pensioner in 1911 when he appears on census records with his cousins, the Watsons, who resided on the Madrid Road, Belfast. The Watsons were the children of William Watson (carpenter) & Ada McLeod who married in Belfast in 1867, presumably maternal cousins of Dickson Thistle.
Dickson's religion was recorded as Episcopalian. He does not appear in the 1901 census as he was in South Africa (Boer War).
He is likely the son of Dickson Thistle Sr (1794-1864) who died in Belfast, age 70, in 1864.
In 1858, at the time of Griffith's Valuation, Robert Thistle was recorded at 📌 Ballymacarrett, Knockbreda, BELFAST, Co Down
On 10 JUL 1866 Dickson Thistle (blacksmith) son of Dickson Thistle (labourer) married Hannah Kane at Ballymena, Co Antrim. This couple had a son George Thistle.
On 26 APR 1869 Maxwell Thistle (smith) son of Robert Thistle (coachmaker) married Susanna Conolly at St Anne's Belfast, Co. Down.
