Migrated to/Born in Australia

Ann was born in 1823 in Drogheda County Louth according to her immigration record. Her parents were George (or Gerry) Kelly and Martha (nee Crilly). Ann arrived in Sydney with her older Sister Peggy as assisted immigrants on the William Sharples on 29 January 1842. She married James Charles Mills on 1 September 1842 at Port Macquarie NSW. They lived near Kempsey in the Macleay Valley for the rest of their lives and had 11 children that I know of.  Ann died in 1874 and is buried in West Kempsey Cemetery. Plenty of descendants still live in that area. One descendant Ken Riordan wrote a book "To The Lucky Country" about the family.

Louth, or Lú in Irish, is located in the north-east of Ireland.  It is known as “The Wee County” because it is the smallest county in Ireland.  We are home to Brù Na Bóinne (Palace of the Boyne) which is an internationally important complex of Neolithic chamber tombs.  We have a population of approximately 122,897.  We look forward to helping you connect with your ancestors’ place of origin.
