Along with his cousin Jan Maddick, John Howe, from Victoria, Australia, was tracing his Dineen ancestors in Balingarry (Connello barony), Co. Limerick, specifically in the townland of Kilmore. Although he had a considerable amount of research done on the family, he hadn’t identified the location of his ancestor’s house. He met IrelandXO volunteer Kieran Jordan in Croom. After a discussion and demonstration of freely available online resources, they went to the site of John’s ancestor’s house in Kilmore. Nothing remains of the house, but John and Jan were happy to see where the Dineen family lived. Within a very short distance (probably 1 kilometre as the crow flies) of where the house was, there is Shanabhotha graveyard. There is an alphabetical list of headstones in the graveyard. Although there is no headstone to the Dineen family, judging by its close proximity to the house, this is probably where the Dineen family were buried in an unmarked grave. Indeed, there was a memorial to Micheal Dinneen’s  granddaughter, Mary Sheahan (nee Dineen) and her husband Micheal and some family. In their own time, John and Jan visited other locations in the area that were related to the Dineen family. John says, ‘we cannot thank you and Ireland Reaching Out enough.’
