Marlborough Terrace, Arklow or Bray, Co Wicklow?

WicklowRathdrum (Wicklow)

I'm finding death certs 1893-38, of Fitzwilliam ancestors who reside at Marlborough Terrace at the time of their death.  I have seen that name connected to Arklow and also Bray, Co. Wicklow. At first I thought it was a street name, but now I'm beginning to think it's a house name.   (Sadly, someone has applied for permission to tear down the one in Bray on the Strand and put up an arcade or casino of some sort.)

A listing for St Mary's Terrace in National Inventory of Architectural Heritage says it was listed as Marlborough Terrace in the Ordinance Survey of the town of Arklow, Co Wicklow.

Can anyone shed any light on the location of Marlborough Terrace?

Thanks so much!

Barb

Yes, thank you for your very quick response!  It looks like that to me, too.  This is to the north of the one they want to tear down. I'm going to search for the ordinance survey map of Arklow to see if I can sort out the puzzle. Thanks again!

Thank you, Margot.  It would be interesting to have those important people in my line, but the Fitzwilliam ancestors I can find are farmers. Thanks again!

My great grandfather Robert Henry Davis J.P. and later his widow Rachel had control off 1, 2 and 3 Marlborough Terrace in Bray from the 1880’s until around the late 1920’s. The residents are usually listed in Thoms.

it is the building on the corner which is to be demolished.

Here are my research notes on the location of Marlborough Terrace in historical maps, photos and the census.
