Benjamin HOPKINS c1829-1899 m Amelia BURKE

My research tells me that

Benjamin Hopkins was a son of JOSEPH HOPKINS (Of Baalard) c1790 and ELIZ STONE c1795

About 1862 Ben married Amelia BURKE (d/o Thos Borke and Saraah HOLMES

They had the following children;

Amelia 1863 who never married

Joseph 1865 who never married

Eliza 1865 who never married

Ben Holmes Hopkins 1867

Robert Hopkins 1869

John Hopkins 1871

Alfred Hopkins 1875

Anne 1878 moved to Australia

Ben had 2 single sisters...Anne and Jane

and a single brother Joseph

Any confirmation and/or additional info regarding this family would be much appreciated

Thank you Elwyn and Mary.   Sorry for my long delay in response.  Your data is correct.

Ben Hopkins of Raheenakit married Amelia Burke of adjacent Minmore on Jan 20, 1862.   Curiously the marriage took place at Courtown Harbour, suggesting that the couple may have eloped.

Ben's father was shown as Joseph who can be identified as Joseph Hopkins c1790-1 of Millbank House, Shillelagh. His wife was Elizabeth Stone.   The family were all buried at Shillelagh.

I am currently trying to identify Ben's Hopkins ancestors who held land at Ballard but likely descend from the Strathnakelly Hopkins.   Will keep you posted.
