Looking for the parents of Thomas Cope 1777-1855

Baltinglass (Wicklow)

I have hit a brick wall and cannot find Thomas Cope's parents. I have visited Baltinglass and found his grave in the Abbey but it gives information of his descendants and no mention of parents. It says 'Thomas Cope of Baltinglass'. I have looked in several libraries and found that he was a bridewell keeper (sorry!). He also has 'Esq' after his name on his son's marriage certificate. He was married to Lydia Walker (1806-1826) by whom he had one son. Secondly he married Margaret Jenkins (1807-1882) by whom he had 10 children, one of whom is my direct ancestor. If anyone can help me by suggesting where else I can look, I'd be very grateful. Thank you. Sue

Sue:

Thomas Cope was Church of Ireland and that parish does not have baptismal records back to the late 18th century. Civil registration of Church of Ireland marriages started in 1845.
