The baptisms of John and Margaret took place in New Ross Catholic Parish Co. Wexford, based in the town of the same name on the banks of rivers Nore and Barrow, next to Co. Kilkenny.
Tintern is the name of a former Village and old Abbey about 20km to the south of the town of New Ross and on the estuary of the Owenduff river. Tintern is also the name of a Church of Ireland (established Church) and civil parish - there's an old Church and Graveyard near to the Abbey ruins.
(Google maps - New Ross to Tintern)
The Catholic parish for the area of Tintern in the mid 1800s was Ballycullane or possibly St. James and Hook (Templetown) - with an old Chapel closeby at Dungulph.

The baptisms do not mention the father's middle name, occupation or Tintern- have you found additional clues on the family from other sources ?
Added : I checked for any additional children to Daniel and Anne in civil births and Catholic baptisms, but did not find any, similarly for a Catholic marriage of Daniel and Anne - found a likely match in civil records, a Church of Ireland marriage on the 27th November 1855 at Tintern parish. Both are shown as 'Full age' i.e. 21 or over, groom's residence is 'Hook',
Thank you for that information. We have not been able to discover any information about John, but do know his younger sister Margaret emigrated to New Zealand. We can but hope that we will find descendants of John,
Based on the clues we have so far I checked the marriages and deaths of all John O'Neills in the area and found the following likely marriage for 'your' John :
Marriage of John O Neill and Mary Scott 22nd January 1880 New Ross Catholic Church
Both are ;listed as 'full age' living on Bewley St. New Ross, the groom a Sailor, father';s names
Daniel O'Neill a school master and John Scott a labourer.
There could be children to this couple - I will have search...
I suspect the following is part of the family on the 1901 census at Bewley St. New Ross - a mix of Scott & O'Neill family, no sign of John - Mary O'Neill is listed as a widow so seems John has died, but there is a daughter Lizzie ...
I found a little more detail on the O'Neill line that remained in Ireland - see tree extract below ...
The most recent is a Michael Lanigan born 1917 at Bewley Street New Ross, Co. Wexford in 1917 - he was the great grandson of your Daniel and Ann.
Michael Lanigan is shown age 8 on the 1926 census at no. 1 Bewley Street New Ross with his father John mother Lizzie/Elizabeth and grandmother Mary - John's widow.
All the above was located on IrishGenealogy or National Archives of Ireland websites - let me know if you want me to post links etc. The tree extract was created in 'My Family Tree'- Microsoft/Chronoplex Software
Thank you very much Shane.Greatly appreciated. I will try to find LANIGANS.
