Ballycanew Parish/Vestry Record Search Desired

Wexford

William Bickford, born abt. 1782 in County Wexford (possibly Ballycanew Parish). Arrived in Canada by 1833. Oldest son named Benjamin so possibly William's father was a Benjamin? William's mother may have been a Margaret of Sarah or Isabella (names of his 3 daughters). He also had a son named Henry. William married in Canada (I believe as she was from Scotland) when he was about 50 years old so possibly William was a widower when he left Ireland? Perhaps he left children behind in Ireland to be raised by relatives or they may have been old enough to be on their own by then.

Am hoping someone may recognize the surname = designate correct parish area AND may share info on who to contact to look at Ballycanew Vestry/Parish records for births & baptisms. Land records do no good with out knowing the names of family members. Have checked Griffiths Valuation long ago.

Thanks Brendan for that info.  Do you know if any parish in the Ballcanew vicinity would have births & baptisms for protestant congregations for the 1780s?  Barb

To the person who posted a query as to whether WIlliam Bickford's daughter, Margaret, born in Fitzroy Township, Ontario, Canada was the same Margaret married to a Peever - I think YES, this is the same family.  Do leave a message here as I cannot find your original message and did not know how to comment on this website!!  So please recontact this message board.  Thank you.

Barbara, did you ever get a reply about finding records for protestant congregations in Ballycanew for the 1780s?

No I did not get a reply to my inquiry about Protestant records/churches - sad to say.  Hopefully someone will come through with info eventually.  But thanks for asking.  Barb
