Whaley Kilnamanagh county Wexford

Ireland Reaching Out - www.irelandxo.com

Looking for info on Henry Whaley, his wife Jane, sons John and George and daughters Sarah and Eliza Jane. According to Griffith Valuation, 1850's they lived next to the Kilcormick church in Ballincash Upper.

Henry died 1870, Jane died 1861, John died 1901 and Sarah died 1902. They are listed in Cantwell memorials for Kilnamanagh Church.

Not sure what happened to George, but other son James who moved to Ontario Canada, approx 1850, is my g-g grandfather. Headstone photo attached.

If possible would like birth dates, Henry's parents names, Jane's parents and maiden name, and if any descendants still in Ireland.

Hi,

Thank you very much for your message. I hope that someone with information makes a connection with you and helps you to further your research.

In the meantime, have you tried looking in church records for information? Most Catholic records are held locally so you may need to write to the local parish priest for possible assistance. One website that you may find useful is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. It also shows you where copies of the records are available. Kilcormick is part of the RC parish of Monageer. To see what is available there, follow this link:

http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/fuses/rcparishmaps/index.cfm?fuseaction=showidrecords&CityCounty=Wexford&parish=Monageer&churchid=581

Civil registration began in Ireland in 1864 so any births, deaths or marriages in the family after this date would be recorded in these records. Civil records are available from the General Register?s Office. Here is their website:

You can search the indexes to these records up to 1958 online at:

Have you tried looking in the 1901/1911 census records to see what family was still there at the time? http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/

Some other websites that may be helpful are:

The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/

The National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx

The National Archives UK ? genealogy search: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/records/looking-for-person/

Irish Genealogy Tool-kit: http://www.irish-genealogy-toolkit.com/index.html

Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.

Kind regards,
