Searching for "Redmond" ancestors

WexfordKillenagh (Wexford)

Hello, my gr, gr grandfather was likely born in Killenagh, all the kids were baptised in the Roman Catholic Parish or Ballygarrett in Wexford county which I understand is not that far from Killenagh. His Name was John Redmond and wife was Marjorie Kinsella, Their children were Bridget Redmond (b1829) and she married John Deveraux 11-26-1854 in the RC parish of Ballygarrett. (in the description of their wedding it says she was from Killena (which I assume is the old spelling of the township). Peter Redmond (b1833), Thomas Redmond (b1834, Catherine Redmondd (b1837), John (jr b 1839)

John Redmond (sr) may have had a brother James that was a sponsor of the baptism of John (jr). I have the baptismal records for all kids but Peter and Bridget. Not sure if anyone can give me any clues where to look next but I am kind of stuck. I dont know if John (sr) and Marjorie left when my ancesstors did or not, and where they may have gone. I cannot find any death records for either of them.

Peter was my direct relative

Any help/clues/hintswould be greatly appreciated

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

Have you scanned the parish register for Ballygarrett? https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0574   I just went thru the register for 1829 and 1833 and did not see a record for Bridget or Peter. I also have an impression that not all baptisms made it to the parish register. Too many gaps. Record keeping was not as exact 190 years ago as it is now.

I did go through that as well, I am thinking they may have moved to that area while the other (younger) kids were being baptised? I cannot find a death record for John Redmond or Marjorie Kinsella either anywhere, so not sure if they left Ireland at some point as well. At least I got back as far as I have for now. ]

Thanks for your help

Civil registration of deaths began in 1864. The free site www.irishgenealogy.ie has index records for deaths from 1864-1877 and the full record images from 1878-1969. If they died pre1864 ther would be no record unless the church kept death info.

Hello all, just curious about this lead I found on find a grave;

here is the text;

Inscription

Gloria In Excelsis Deo IHS Here lieth the Body of Edward Brien who depd this life Decr 1818 aged 50 yrs also his Wife Catharine Brien who depd this life Novr 1818 aged 54 yrs. And also Catharine Redmond who died 17th March 1834 aged 2 years. Also John Redmond depd this life on the 8th Novr 1861 aged 56 years. Also his Wife Margaret Redmond departed this life on 3rd March 1865 aged 68 years. May they rest in peace.

Gravesite Details

Headstone.

So some questions. The age about fits, his wife name fits (Marjorie), Margaret. Was this a tombstone for multiple plots? or were they buried together or? The name "Brien" does not ring any bells with me. Margaret's maiden name was Kinsella, so would the "Brien" been most likely this particular Margaret's parents? Any ideas?

Thanks for your help
