Heatherston, Hetherton

WestmeathKillucan (Westmeath)

I am descended from Richard Heatherston and Roseann Lynch of Riverstown, Killucan.

They emigrated about 1853 to the US. They first settled near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and later moved to Le Sueur County, Minnesota.

Hi Kay

Here's a possible record for Richard Heatherston from Westmeath from www.rootsireland.ie/ (subscription site)

Name: Richard Hertherston Date of Birth: Date of Baptism: 10-Oct-1813 Address: Not Recorded Parish/District: TAUGHMON Gender: Male County Co. Westmeath Denomination: Roman Catholic Father: Martin Hertherston Mother: Bridget Ennis Occupation: Not Recorded Sponsor 1 / Informant 1: Robert Farrell Sponsor 2 / Informant 2: Ellen Rourke

And another from Killucan (Is it too late?):

Name: Richard Hetherston Date of Birth: Date of Baptism: 20-Dec-1849 Address: Not Recorded Parish/District: KILLUCAN Gender: Male County Co. Westmeath Denomination: Roman Catholic Father: Richard Hetherston Mother: Ann Leavy Occupation: Not Recorded Sponsor 1 / Informant 1: Thomas Cauroon Sponsor 2 / Informant 2: Margaret Cauroon

Couldn't find one for Rose in Killucan; Riverstown is not in the list of parishes.

Couldn't find a marriage record of them.

Griffiths Valuation (free online) has about 16 Lynches in Killucan in 1854

The Irish Census (free) 1821 has 35 all in Cavan

Col,
Thanks for checking out this info for me.

I have the marriage record of Rose Lynch and Richard Hederson (sic) for Feb 1830 in Kinnegad. I believe Rose was from Kinnegad. Her father's name may have been Malachi, but I question the baptismal record of that person because it seemed to late in view of the 1830 marriage. Witnesses to the marriage were John Boyhan and Laurence Ennis.

The children of Richard & Rose Heatherston were: Mary (1830), Margaret, Thomas, Matthew, Michael, and Ann (1844). We have the baptismal records for all except Michael. Ann is my ancestor.

Affiliated names (taken from baptismal records) are Plunkett, Lynagh, Whelehan, Hetherston, Boyhan, Rochford.
