Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

Geehanstown townland is in Killallon civil parish in Co. Meath on the border with Co. Westmeath. The RC parish of Clonmellon covers both counties. I checked on Roots Ireland and it appears Patrick had at least four younger siblings: Ann 1840 James 1843 Peter 1845 Mary 1849. The surname spellings varied. I showed the transcription of the baptismal record for Mary below. The townland is shown as Duneorgan but it was likely Dunnagorran in Killallon parish in Co. Meath.

The 1854 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Killallon parish shows Thomas Cummiskey in Dunnagorran.

My Comiskey family was from Dean Hill, Co. Meath. They emigrated to Canada in the 1840s.  My mother recently had a DNA match with a descendant of Patrick Comiskey of Clonmellon. Would like to explore this further

Hi Jim,

I am so sorry that I did not reply sooner; I start the family geneological research and then get sidetracked.

I do hope you still log into Ireland Reaching Out; I would love to explore our possible connection.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi Jeanne - since your initial message, I have had DNA matches to decendandts  in the family who came to Louisiana. I can't make a connection yet, but if you would like to e-mail me we can exchange further information.  My e-mail is jmccallum@rogers.com

Hi, Jim (and Jeanne)

I just read this conversation and want to join.  I'm a Louisiana Comiskey and a cousin of Jeanne's.  my email is yeksimocf@gmail.com.  We are descended from Patrick Comiskey born 1838 in Westmeath.  Are your DNA results on Ancestry?  Mine are.  Let me know.
