Ann Gorman/Godfrey Farrell
WaterfordTrinity Without (Waterford)
Hi Folks.
This is a tough one. My 3rd GGM, Ann Gorman, had a baby, Godfrey, with Thomas Farrell in 1826 in Waterford City. I don't know for sure if they were married. The child, Godfrey Farrell, was baptized at Ballybricken Church on 4 February, 1826 (see attached). At the time, Thomas was a private in the 29th Regiment of the British Army. He shipped out to Mauritius shortly after his son's baptism and died there of cholera in 1830.
The next record I have of any of them is when Godfrey arrived in Boston in 1852. I know what happened to Thomas. What I need is more information about Ann Gorman and her son Godfrey. I've searched everywhere. I've even tried the archives at Kew, thinking maybe Thomas and Ann had a military marriage, but no luck. I'd go to Kew and look for myself, but I don't know if that would be productive either. I feel like they stayed in Waterford because we always heard growing up that the Farrells came from that city. My grandpa spoke often of "Waterford Way".
Any suggestions out there?
Thanks to all.
