Searching for Byrne relatives from Ballymacarbry, County Waterford

Waterford

My husband John O’Neill met cousins from his mother’s side (Byrne) when they came to visit in Pittsburgh in the mid to late 1980s. They would have been in their 20s or early 30s.

My husband’s great-grandfather was Michael Byrne of Ballymacarbry, County Waterford. He was the husband of Margaret Neulooly and father of: Joseph (my husband’s grandfather born in the states), Babe, Mary, John, Terry and Margaret. Another American family member mentioned a cousin named Liam that they were in touch with last in 2009.

We’re hoping to learn more about our family’s roots and possibly connect with relatives or neighbors who may share this lineage. Our goal is to honor this heritage and build meaningful ties with the community that shaped it.If you recognize any family names or have suggestions for local records, stories, or contacts, we’d be deeply grateful.

Hello,

It appears our families may be related.

Please provide more details about your lineage, starting with Michael Byrne in Ballymacarbry. I have mapped out several dozen Byrne family connections in the vicinity of Ballymacarbry, located in the Southern part of County Tipperary and the Northern parts of County Waterford. Ballymacarbry is located close to the border between the two counties.

Also, note that Neuloooly is not a typical spelling of an Irish name. Any insights into other family members would help pinpoint the exact family lineage.

Best regards,

Ed
