Blanchfield Edward (Convict to Australia)

I have been researching for many years but finding information of my convict ancestor before he set foot on Australian soil is difficult getting any further details.

Information gained here from the colonial records has him as being born in Waterford about 1791.  He was trialled and sentenced for stealing a watch and shipped in the early fleets to Australia.    Arriving 11 April 1812 on the ship "Guildford".

 

Early records are difficult but there is always hope, a peice of the jigsaw will reveal itself.   Hope someone can help with my Blanchfield connection in Ireland.

Hello Victorsen,

I went to www.rootsireland.ie and looked for edward blanchfield in the Waterford records.  I left out the date which is sometimes better.

I found one baptismal record for edward blanchfiel in Carrick on Suir in 1838.

I know this is not your direct ancestor but the Blanchfield name is so rare that it's just possible that this person is related somehow.  Try going online and see it there are graveyard transcriptions for the Carrick on Suir town.
