Ballymacmague inhabitants

WaterfordDungarvan (Waterford)

Looking to connect with other descendenants of folks who lived in the townlands of Ballymacmague (N, E, W, S). My ancestors were there for several generations from the late 1700's to about 1900 or so. Surnames are Gleeson, Queally/Qualy, Flahavan, Morrissey, Walsh. My 3-great grandparents were married at St. Mary's in Dungarvan  on 19 February 1828 and left for the US in the late 1840's. They were Brigid Gleeson and Daglin (Declan/Deighlen) Flahavan/Flavin. Unfortunately there are gaps in St. Mary's baptismal records for the time period when they would have been born. I do have a subscription to RootsIreland.ie, FindMyPast and other major databases, but I would really love to hear more about the area and from anyone with more knowledge about any other descendants.

I realize your post is from 2 years ago, but all of my Daly ancestors came from Ballymacmague North & South.

I also have loads & loads of Morrisseys intertwined in my Daly line. William Quinn my 3rd greatmother's brother; he married Catherine Morrissey in 1838 in Ballymacmague. Owen Quealy and Mary Quealy are godparents to my 2x great grandmother's brother Owen Daly, and Martin Morrissey is godfather to her.

Francis Daly & Lorraine Daly, children of Laurence Daly (my 2x great grandmother's brother) were living in the Gleeson household in San Francisco in the 1930 census. listed as son and daughter of Mary E. & James Gleeson. (Mary E. was the widow of Laurence who died in 1915).

On a 2021 visit to Ireland I visited the Ballymacmague homesite and the Kilgobnet cemetery where many are buried.
