Treanor Search
I have started my tree research this year and made a lot of progress in a short time. My Grandfather was John Treanor, born 1870 in Fivemiletown or Sixmilecross. His parents were John Treanor born about 1813, died 1898 andMary Corrigan (no details). He had a number of siblings born between 1864 and 1881 in and around the area. John Treanor Snr was a Smith so would have done a lot of travelling. I have found some basic records for the family, mainly births, a little more for one sibling Joseph and quite a bit more about my Grandfather (only because he came to live in my hometown of Fleetwood in Lancashire) I have spent months looking for descendants of the family and found nothing. I cannot find anything about his mother Mary, nor birth records for John T Snr. I have searched deaths, marriages, military, emigration etc to no avail. I have done a DNA test with Ancestry and have quite a lot of Treanor matches. So my question is, am I wasting my time because the records don't exist, or do I need to employ a different method? Incidentally my Donnelly ancestors came from the Tempo area of County Fermanagh and I have exactly the same challenge in finding them. Thanks for reading and I would be grateful for any replies Martin
