Finding Michael Hughes

Hi Michael,

The marriage record on www.rootsireland.ie/ has annoyingly little info I'm afraid:

Date of Marriage:22-Jul-1860
Parish / District:KILLESHILL
County:TYRONE
Husband Michael Hughes
Wife:CatherineSkeffington

This looks like Catherine's baptism:

IF Michael was also from Killeshill there are 3 records:

If he was from Dungannon there are 2 more:

Father:John HughesMother:Rose DonlyOccupation:
Informant 1:Josephtamny Sponsor 2 /

There is another in 1845 but that would only make him 15 when married

Looks like they had 4 children - all in Killeshill: Joseph 1862, Catherine, 1863, Thomas 1866 & Michael 1868

Possible siblings or cousins of Michael's were married to Skeffingtons and having children in Dungannon:

Peter & Mary; Francis & Anne Jane

I don't know whether you've tried th National Library's R C registers; there are a lot of Dungannon records available free at

Hello There  ( Finding Michael Hughes)

Well I have little to offer only that my observations of the names  tells me that  they are of the Roman Catholic.religion.

A fellow researcher Annie Crenshaw    anniecrenshaw@centurytel.net     I believe was researching the Skiffington / Skeffington and the Donnelly families  from a similar area recently.

Hopefully you may get some leads from there.

From Robert.
