Rafferty

TyroneClogher (Tyrone)

Hi There,

My maiden name is Kerry-Lynn Rafferty. Im hoping to find some information aboutmy ancestors. My 3rd Great Grandparents are Felix Peter Rafferty who married another Rafferty......Margarita Rafferty in 1859 in the Clogher Parish Tyrone. They did end up coming to Americ. Felix Peters parents were JamesRafferty(or Raverty) and Mary Donaghey. Margaritas parents were Corneli (Cornelius?)Rafferty and Susanna Hacket. Felix Peter Rafferty was listed at Lisnabable. Maybe a street. Margarita is listed at Burnhill maybe. Would love to get any information at all. Looks like an amazing place. If anyone has pics of the town too, that would be very cool. Thank you so much!!

My family also came from Lisnarable. It is a small town in Clogher Civil Parish in County Tyrone. My great-grandmother was Ellen McSorley McGirr. Her sister Rose McSorley married Cornelius Rafferty who also lived in Lisnarble. Ellen and Rose's parents were Peter McSorley and Mary McElroy.

Cornelius and Rose had one child - a daughter Mary Jane. She married James Gorman and they had 7 children . They lived on the family farm.

There are still descendants of the Raffertys in Lisnarble. I met with them a few years ago. Their surname is Mcgirr. May Jane Gorman was their gradmother.
