Toomavara Carrolls 1868 - 1878

Looking for information about my G. Grandfather JOHN CARROLL born 1871 or 1872 in Toomavara, Co. Tipperary. His Father was William Carroll and his Mother was Ann Costello.

John had 2 sisters, Mary Josephine and Winifred. John joined the Royal Irish Arny (in Clonmel ) in 1891 and was sent to South Africa to fight in the Boer War in 1899.
He died in July 1900 when my Grandfather, his son, was only 4 months old.

As John Carroll is a very common name I need to confirm that he did actually live in Toomavara. The information that I have is that Ann Costello died in 1875 and William Carroll moved to Dublin and remarried.

Hoping you can help me.

Thank you
Lynda
