Hickey/Morrissey/Quinn family

TipperaryThurles (Tipperary)

I am looking for any descendants of Margaret Hickey (b 1864) in Thurles. She married twice - firstto Edward Morrissey (d 1893) and second to William Quinn (d abt 1899). Mary, Ellen, Kate and James were from her marriage to Morrissey and twins Margarete and Winifred (b 1894) were from the marriage to Quinn. Margaret, Mary, Kate,James, Margarete and Winifred all emigrated to Buffalo, NY in 1907. As far as we know her daughter Ellenremained behind.

According to the 1901 Census the family were residents of a house 23 in Ballynahow (Ballycahill, Tipperary).

Thank you!

Hi,

Currently residing in Ballynahow, Ballycahill, Thurles, Co. Tipperary, today, are two Morrissey families. Interestingly the home of one family is known as "Fort Edward". (1893 marraige)

I have spoken to a neighbour & friend of the Morrissey families here in Tipperary, who will asertain shortly if one or both families can throw some light on Ellen, whom you claim remained here in Ireland.

I expect to contact you shortly and trust this information will turn out to be of some assistance in your ungoing root search.

I can be contacted personally on Hidden Tipperary [ http://www.hiddentipperary.com/ ] by the going online to the TAG link Contact Us (Top left of Home Page 1) [http://www.hiddentipperary.com/contact-us/]

Kindest regards,

Hi OllieV,

Yes I think we are cousins! What year was Ellen born? She must have been an adult by the time the rest of the family left for the US. What is Fort Edward House?

Hi, I am looking for my ancestors the Morrissey family and believe it is this one. My great grandmother's name was Mary M. Morrissey. She was born 18?? She came with her mother Margaret from Tipperary, IRE to Buffalo, NY. Mary married John Latouf  1910 at St. Barthoimew Church. She is the sister of James, Katherine, Winifred. I know very little of the family. Mary had these children: Winifred, John Edward (my great grandfather) Patrick, Edward, and Marian. I knew them when I was a little girl in Austin, TX. I was always told they met on ship  I have her .I finally found iher obit. after 15 years searching in July 29, 2022:  "Latouf - Mary Morrissey, beloved wife of John Latouf. Daughter of Mrs. Margaret Morrissey. Sister of: James, Katherine, Winifred. Margaret and Mrs. D. O'Brien of IRE. Funeral from the family residence Wednesday morning Dec. 24. 243 Grider street. 9 o'clock and from St. Barthiomew's church. Friends invited." Their children were placed an orphanage for some time. I have more info.
