I could not find a baptismal record for their daughter Mary. I wasn't clear from your post whether Daniel and Mary Healy emigrated to NY or only their daughter. If the couple did, then maybe Mary was born in the US, not Ireland.
Regards,
Carolyn and Patricia. Thank you for your research. Thomas Healy, Mary's brother appears to be the first born of Daniel and Mary. Thomas was a witness to the Baptism of Francis Healy, his nephew by Mary Healy and John Edwards in Brooklyn, NY. I have never seen any evidence that Daniel and Mary every emigrated from Ireland. I haven't located where Mary Healy's husband, John Edwards, comes from in Ireland.
Streetso,
I saw your Ancestry tree....are you certain that Thomas and Mary Healy are siblings? They could be cousins or another relation as well. The baptism record for Francis doesn't indicate a relationship. The baptism records for the RC parish of Templemore began in 1807, but I did not find Mary nor any other children of Daniel Healy and Mary Costigan on Roots Ireland or Ancestry.
Regards,
Hello to 'streetso'. If you are still researching this family in Templemore - I realise it's been two years but I have seen this just now - I thought I'd share four screenshots from the Templemore and Clonmore parish registers. In addition to the marriage and baptism mentioned in others' responses above there is also a new person Catherine born 1822 who is mostly likely another child for Daniel HEALY and Mary COSTIGAN.
The attached documents are screenshots of
1 The marriage of Daniel and Mary in Clonmore on 21 February 1819. Witnesses were Daniel and Laurence FITZPATRICK (very common name in Clonmore!)
2 & 3 The baptism of their child Thomas HEALY on 11 February 1820. There are two versions of this in the online registers at nli.ie, which appear to be an original and a handwritten transcription. I have attached both versions.
4 The baptism on 5 May 1822 of Catherine, parents Daniel HEANEY and Mary COSTIGAN. It appears that the surname was probably mis-transcribed when the register was copied by hand at a later date, but one of the baptism sponsors is Patrick HEALY. Combine this with the mother's name and it does support the hypothesis that the father's surname probably was HEALY, not HEANEY.
I am still searching the Templemore registers online for the original record of that baptism, but for now I can only find this derivative register with the surname HEANEY.
When local historians in Clonmore published a massive history of Clonmore - 'Clonmore Through the Ages' - in 2016, they also attributed Catherine to this family. Their research identifies only two children, Thomas and Catherine, so it does again raise the question whether Daniel and Mary may have emigrated and your ancestor, the daughter Mary, may have been born after emigration, i.e., born in the USA. I do not have access to American records, but if you are in the USA, can you undertake a search for possible registration of the deaths of the elder Daniel and/or Mary in the USA?
Please enjoy these screenshots, and please reach out if you need any further information at the Ireland end of the story.
