Phoebe Letitia Jackson of Roscrea and her baptism record in Dublin

TipperaryRoscrea (Tipperary)

I recently discovered that Church of Ireland records for  Roscrea C of I parish records are available for personal research on microfilm in the National Archives Bishop St Dublin.  Baptisms from 1784-1876 Marriages from 1784-1845 Burials 1784-1875.

The archives don't provide a research service.

http://www.nationalarchives.ie/PDF/CofIMicrofilms.pdf

I know the following request is bold but I am wondering if anyone ever attends the  National Archives in Bishop St Dublin and who would be willing to see if the birth of Phoebe Letitia Jackson c 1853 daughter of Robert Jackson & Eliza Benn from Roscrea, Tipperary is there and if so if a print out was possible???

If not perhaps a notation of Phoebe's date of birth and any siblings she might have???  Perhaps the marriage of Phoebe's parents c 1850's???

The only information I have on Phoebe's parents are their names and that Robert was a farmer.

I live in Australia and a visit to Ireland is not planned for a few years so any assistance will be much appreciated.

Hi Marie

Try a site www.rootsireland.ie/

I searched for surname Jackson parents Robert & Eliza (not Benn) in all coyunties and got 8 matches:

Antrim: Sara 1854 Jane1855 Margretta 1858 Elizabeth 1870

Down: Mary 1857

Tipperary Thomas 1849 Sarah 1846

Dublin Elizabeth 1842

It costs to view records but there is a 40% off at the moment.

I didn't check www.irishgenealogy.ie but you might try that one too (it's free)

Hi Col

Tried both but no luck - not the correct mother/father.  I spent a bit on the rootsireland site but one does what one has to do.

Thanks for your efforts.

Hello again Jack

It seems you may be reading from a document that is somewhat more comprehensive that the MI's available at http://www.interment.net/data/ireland/tipperary/stcronan/

If this is the case do you have anything further on the Benn's also buried at St Cronin.  Eliza Benn [d 6 Jul 1891] married Robert Jackson [d 9 Feb 1874].

  • Benn, Mary Anne, d. 15 Jul 1880, age: 7mo, d/o Thomas, [AR]
  • Benn, Mary Anne, d. 16 Jan 1886, age: 8mo, d/o Thomas, [AR]
  • Benn, Susan, d. 6 Dec 1889, age: 8 yrs., d/o Thomas, [AR]
  • Benn, Susan, d. 6 Jan 1938, age: 89, w/o Thomas, [AR]
  • Benn, Thomas, d. 14 Sep 1890, age: 40, h/o Susan, [AR]
  • Benn, Trephina, d. 11 Nov 1886, age: 6 yrs., d/o Thomas, [AR]

The above are the Benn names available at http://www.interment.net/data/ireland/tipperary/stcronan/. I am seeking some link, if it exists, between these names and Eliza Benn as I cannot [to date] locate any particular records that take me back past Eliza into her family.

Kind regards

Marie

The age for Eliza is indeed 80 years, (apologies)

Have a look at www.familysearch.org

there are some near matches and you will know more than me.

I believe the details included are the only details on the

headstone, but I will venture down to check.

Benn headstone;

-----

Mary Ann Benn; 16/1/1886 (8 mts)

Mary Ann; 15/7/1880 (7 mts)

Thomas Benn; 14/9/1890 (40)

wife-Susan; 6/1/1938 (89)

Hello Jack

You did not make the make - it was on the St Conin's site I provided in a previous post- probably just a typo - I just wanted to check on it so no apologies necessary.

Thanks for the heads up on The Findmypast site.

Kind regards

Marie
