Hogans from Tipperary
Hello,
I am searching for information about my Hogan ancestors who may have lived in Monsea in the 1840s. My great-great-great grandfather, William Hogan, was born around 1820 likely somewhere in Tipperary. His parents were John Hogan and Margaret Hyeman.Williammarried Mary Carrley (or possibly Mary Casey) around 1840. They had 4 children who were born in Ireland between 1841 and 1850: John b. 1841, Andrew b. 1842, Mary b. 1846 or 1848, and Ann b. 1850. Sometime between 1850 and 1853 the familyleft Ireland for the US and settled in Massachusetts where they had 4 more children: Jeremiah b. 1853, William b. Feb. 1856, Michael b. Dec. 1856 (died 1858), and Catherine b. 1859. I found a record in the Catholic Parish Registers that I believe isWilliam's son John's baptism from Apr. 15, 1841. It lists the baptism place asMonsea, Tipperary, Ireland and theDiocese as Killaloe and William and Mary Hogan as the parents.
I'm looking for any information about the family, especiallyif William was originally from Monsea or if he moved there from elsewhere.
If anyone has any information or advice on where I can continue my search I would really appreciate it.
Thank you!
Christine Hogan
