Tobin-Bourke Tipperary-O'Neill-Devitt Co. Clare

Tipperary

Hello! I just discovered this wonderful site! Thank you in advance for any assistance. I am new here and please excuse mistakes!

I am looking for many ancestors that went to US, Australia, ect. My mother first generation New York.

Looking for information for Burial of Great Grandfather Patrick Tobin born 1828 in Carron, County Tipperary

He died in 1904 in the Cashel workhouse?

What parish and where would I find records of burial?

He married Johanna Bourke Sept 19th 1856 in Fethard. I see a post from 2022 for A Bourke family who listed a Johanna and

they thought she may have been adopted out.. I think she was in service of some sort in the Cashel area. I'm not sure where they other Bourkes lived in the post.

I find 2 children that went to Australia Michael and Mary Tobin.

My Grandfather William came to New York with a Mary Lonegran or Corigan- Kerrigan hard to read. Aunt?

Thank you in Advance

Kathleen

Kathee,

Attached are four civil birth records for their children. Children born prior to 1864 would have a baptism record only. Their marriage date is 1857, not 1856 according to the record on an Ancestry tree. I did see a Michael Tobin on a tree....maybe yours....one born in 1858 and one in 1861...the 1858 one looks like their child. I could not find either Michael on the paid site Roots Ireland where the other four children were found. The attached records are from the free site irishgenealogy.ie

Regards,

Carolyn

Hi Carolyn!

Thank you yes, The tree should be mine, and I attached the actually church records years ago, along with sponsors names if readable quite a few Lonegran's Hogan's ect. I re-exam the marriage record and it went from 1856 to 1857. The 1858 child died, I had the record and lost it when my computer blew up several years ago. Not sure if I got it from familysearch by going to a local chapter looking on

microfilm. Still looking.  The Michael born in 1861 went to Australia and I'm looking into if Mary Tobin went as well.

Thank you again, these records are much easier to read!

Right now I'm trying to attain more info on Patrick Tobin and Johanna Bourke.   Patrick died in Dec 28th 1904 as stated above, would like to find where he is buried.  His birth record does not list a mother I have a few DNA matches in Australia with possible names.  I don't know if she wasn't a parish member or died in childbirth or out of wedlock.

For Johanna I have not been able to pinpoint her family, I have quite a few children in the famine cemetery.  I believe she was in servitude with a family at some point.

I refer to a old post here on this site back in 2022 by a Katheryn naming a William Bourke born in 1817 with a Sibling named Johanna, perhaps the youngest that she thought may have been adopted out.    This William married a woman by the name of Joyce from Galway area I believe??  That is a long way away, except back in 2012 I had a maternal match for a Joyce on Familytree DNA.    Going back on the 7cm I had checked my family in Clare County  No Joyce's back there Yet!?  I've looked on Ancestry and cannot find her tree or it is private?

I've tried looking for a Cashel Workhouse, there are quite a few listed even in England. And it's possible Patrick was in the Military in Fethard and going back and to.

Any help or suggestions I Thank in advance.

Sincerely

Kathleen
