I am searching for the family of my great-grandfather, William Francis McCormack, who emigrated to the United States in 1881. His parents' names were James McCormack and Anna Maher, and they lived in Tipperary Co. He also had a brother named Michael who remained in Ireland. I would like to know what became of the family after he left.

There is a baptism record for a William Cormack in the parish of Loughmore on April 30 1837. Father: James Cormack - Mother: Catherine Maher
Can you give some further information on William, Age on the census in the USA and his port of departure from Ireland.

I'm afraid I don't know his port of departure from Ireland. I haven't been able to find any Irish records for him at all. I am sure of the names of his parents, however; they are on his death certificate.
In the 1900 USA census, William was 38 years old.

Yes he married in the United States. Waterbury, Connecticut in 1888. His wife's name was Ellen Walsh. According to family members, they did not know each other in Ireland.
I have traced Ellen's family back to Tipperary, Ireland; the Walsh-Doherty family.
Ellen emigrated in 1880 with her sister Catherine.
I see Catherine was listed as Kate on the ship record.
If William's documents state Tipperary this could be Tipperary Town in County Tipperary. It may take a while to find any information.
Yes Catherine was Kate on immigration record. My great-grandmother was listed as Mary (Mary Ellen).
I also have 5 percent Scottish in my DNA- could that be a clue?

There are a lot of James McCormack in County Tipperary. One that I found in Griffiths Valuation was in Commons (townland) Thurles.
If Michael J McCormack was born in 1852 .............. I see a ship record for him in 1871. Is that the year of his birth?
