Fahey from Tipperary

Tipperary

Happy New Year to all!

I am trying to trace my GG grandfather’s roots.

His name was John Fahey born about 1786 ‘in Tipperary’.

He immigrated to Canada between 1825 and 1832.

His first wife was Margaret Lahey from Ballymacegan.

She passed away in Canada in 1833.

He then married Ann Kennedy, also originally from Ballymacegan.

Therefore I imagine that John Fahey was originally from that area as well.

However that has yet to be confirmed.

Any and all information regarding John would be very appreciated.

Regards,

Doug Fahey

Ballymacegan townland is in the civil parish of Borrisokane and the RC parish is Borrisokane. Records for that parish start in 1821 https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0765?locale=en

Based on that date there would not be a record for John Fahey, Margaret Leahy or Ann Kennedy.

I did check the 1826 Tithe listing for the parish but did not find a Fahey/Fahy record.
