My widowed g g grandmother Mary O'Brien (nee Merrick )and her 8 children left the Cullen/Lattin parish in 1849/50 and went to Australia. Her father was Richard Merrick and her mother was Catherine Cahill and they were still alive when she left. Her husband Lawrence O'Brien's death date is unknown. Mary lived in the Townland of Ballynulty.
Any information about these two families would be most welcome.

By the way I found a newspaper article from "United Ireland" reprinted in an Australian paper dated 31 May 1884
It is about Richard Merrick, his wife and 9 children being evicted from his tenancy in Ballynulty. This has to be one of our Merricks surely.
