Dwyer from Clonmel
Hi, My great grandmother was Mary Dwyer who married Martin Quigley here in 1905. I have their marriage cert and Mary's father is down as Jeremiah Dwyer. The story is that the Dwyer family disowned Mary as she was marrying Martin who was a British soldier. Her father and brothers were farmers in Clonmel. I am having difficulty finding her family. Martin was from Thurles, although stationed in Clonmel, and they moved to Thurles after the marriageand I can find themon the 1911 Census. I cannot find Mary's birth which should be abt. 1885 nor a census record for her for 1901 anywhere in Clonmel. I have found a Thomas Dwyer and Anastasia Bishop who could be her parents, who married in 1876 but he was in the army and I amsure that they were farmers and it clearly states that Mary's father was Jeremiah on her marriage cert. Also they had a Mary Dwyer who married a William Cook, so cannot be the same family. Interestingly though, there was an Anastasia Dwyer as witness at Marys wedding in 1905.At the time of her marriage Mary was down as a domestic Servant. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Many thanks
