The baptism records for the RC parish of Borrisokane begin in 1821, so if he was born prior to that, you will not find a record. The only clue to a family member is that one of the witnesses on his marriage record was Thomas Hogan. There is no certainty of his relationship to John though...brother, cousin, father????

Thank you both very much, Patricia and Carolyn for this very useful information. John Hogan's employer, Obadiah Holland, lived in Shesheraghmore before he moved to Galway, so this is a possible clue. Also, John Hogan's eldest son was Daniel - another possible clue. Thank you both for your time.
