Hi,

Thank you for your message.

Have you tried looking for information in church records? Most Catholic records are held locally. One website which you may find useful is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. For Kilshalvey parish follow this link:

http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/fuses/rcparishmaps/index.cfm?fuseaction=showidrecords&CityCounty=Sligo&parish=Kilshalvey&churchid=124

For Church of Ireland records check http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42 and http://www.nationalarchives.ie/.  The Anglican Record Project is has created an index to their records: http://ireland.anglican.org/cmsfiles/pdf/AboutUs/library/AngRecord/bunclodyunionindex.pdf

Civil registration began in Ireland in 1864, so given your timeframe you may also may able to find information in these records. Civil registration records are available from the General Register?s Office in Dublin. Here is their website http://www.groireland.ie/research.htm

You can search the indexes online at Family Search. Here is the link:

https://familysearch.org/search/collection/1408347

You could also try searching the 1901 and 1911 census records which can often contain useful information. You can search these online here:

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/

Have you tried looking into Mary?s emigration? Sometimes more information was given at the port of arrival rather than that of departure so it may be worth your while looking into it. For immigration records in the US check the National Archives here:

http://www.archives.gov/research/immigration/

Some other websites that you may find useful are:

The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/

The National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx

The National Archives UK ? genealogy search: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/records/looking-for-person/

The Public Records Office of Northern Ireland http://www.proni.gov.uk/index/family_history.htm

Genealogy Links: http://www.genealogylinks.net/uk/ireland/sligo/index.html

I hope that some of these links are helpful. Best of luck with your research!

Kind regards,
