Seeking Info about Michael Holmes b. 1821 d. 1922 lived in the area of Strokestown and/or Tarmonberry, Bumlin Wife Anne Casey
Hello, I have tried to seek information before, but I wanted to try again. My 2 times great grandfather Michael Holmes lived in the bumlin, strokestown, tarmonberry area(s) of Roscommon. He was born in 1821 and died in 1922. At the end of his life he lives with one of his daugther's, Mary, and her husband Michael Carlos.
From the 1901 Ireland census it looks like Michael lived on / in Gorttoose and it appears that his brother John Holmes lived next door with his family (Bridget, Ellie, Thomas, Francis, and Michael). Both Micahel Holmes and John were farmers. In 1901, Michael was a retired farmer and a widowed.
Micahel and Anne Casey had five children: Bridget, Catherine, Mary, Edward, and Ann. Catherine and Bridget both immigrated to the United States (this I know for sure).
Catherine T. (Stanislaus) Holmes was my great grandmother and I know she was born to Michael and Anne Holmes in the year 1865. Catherine was baptised in the Tarmonbarry Roman Catholic Parish Her sponsors (godparents) were Patrick and Elizabeth Ratigan. I know she left Ireland at one point and traveled to Australia. In Australia she married Frank Weakley. She and Frank eventually moved to the United States where they lived in Providence, Rhode Island.
I would appreciate any info about these individuals. Thanks Karlene
