Faheys in Roscommon town

Hi my grandad is William Fahey born 21/5/1883 in Roscommon to Thomas Fahey 1846-1928

and Mary Morris 1849-1932. His first wife Mary/Moira Doyle died in the workhouse in 

Roscommon 24/7/1910. William died in Manchester on 4/1/1960. He married Sophia Crozier. 

My mother is Margaret Francis Fahey  one of 10 children. I have been unable to trace 

any details about Timothi Fahy and Anna Brown my gg grandparents. As far as I can trace 

most of my grandads family moved to Manchester but I'm interested to know if any of 

his brothers or sisters remained in Roscommon town . It appears from my research 

that there seemed to be quite a few Faheys all living on Abbey Street Goff Street 

and Henry Street. It would great to know if I have any relatives still living in 

Roscommon. 

I will be coming over in August 2026 so would like to come over with as much 

information as possible and it would be really appreciated to meet up with any 

local volunteers to assist.I will also be visiting Bawnyboy as I have relatives 

who came from there on my paternal side some of whom are buried on St Mogues 

island so Ill be timing the visit to coincide with the Community Day in early 

August    Any information would be greatly appreciated.
